Responsibilities

IEA Corp, an EverWatch company is in search of a QEI to support the Department of State. A Secret level clearance is required for this role. It will require 70% international travel.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

  • Travel globally and work with local resources to conduct vertical transportation safety inspections and witness safety testing.
  • Conduct final acceptance inspections on new and modernized elevator systems.
  • Provide inspection reports reflecting the inspection / testing results, identifying code deficiencies and recommendations.
  • Provide technical assistance to local resources regarding testing and inspection requirements.
  • Explain elevator deficiencies to the local managers.
  • Perform vertical transportation equipment condition assessments.
  • Lead the inspection and testing process, working with facility staff and local service contractors.
  • Coordinate inspection scheduling with required staff; submit the required travel documents; and make the necessary travel arrangements.
  • Confirm / train local maintenance contractors to ensure their understanding of the Scope of Work and are capable of performing the required tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining device inspection information (spreadsheets, status reports) and government databases.
  • Process work orders as required.
  • Assist in the peer review of plans, specifications, and technical reports as required.
  • Assist in providing applicable safety and technical training as needed.
  • Assist in presenting technical reports and propose solutions.

Qualifications

The Elevator Inspector (Levels I, II, and III) shall meet the below qualifications: 


 



  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

  • Industry experience performing code compliance inspections of vertical transportation equipment and systems.

  • Must be certified as a Qualified Elevator Inspector (ASME QEI-1) by an organization accredited organization.

  • Initiative, professionalism and sound judgement.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Must be able endure the physical and mental challenges of global travel and working in varying political, climatic, and economic environments.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.

  • Detailed knowledge of elevator safety codes, building codes as they relate to elevator systems, and fire protection codes as they relate to elevator systems.

  • Ability to learn and apply foreign codes and standards.

  • Ability to drive the inspection process in locations where local mechanic support maybe less than ideal.

  • Demonstrated ability to work through complex issues of code compliance and the methods for obtaining results.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.


 


Desired Qualifications:


 



  • Experience working as a hands-on Mechanic

  • Experience with foreign vertical transportation equipment codes and standards.
