Everwatch Solutions is seeking a Linux System Administrator to perform sustainment activities across multiple remote locations for Air Force Distributed Common Ground Station – National Mission Partner (AF DCGS-NMP) systems. This position is open to candidates willing to work with a well-established and evolving team. The ideal candidate will provide system administration support to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) mission systems and workstations; actively monitor and troubleshoot system issues; participate in response to and resolution of trouble tickets; and update and patch systems. The SA will work with the System Sustainment team to ensure continuous operations for mission users through implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of systems, workstations, and associated infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience in contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information technology, or related discipline from an accredited college or university and recent experience with administration of Linux-based systems and workstations
• In lieu of degree, 12+ years of experience in the field of computer system administration and recent experience with administration of Linux-based systems and workstations
• Security+ or higher DoD 8570 certification
• Provide System Administration and sustainment support to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) mission systems, workstations, and associated infrastructure
• Experience providing help desk and sustainment support for Linux systems and workstations
• Familiarity with trouble ticket reporting systems like JIRA and/or SERENA
• Understanding of cyber security tools and methods
• Install, integrate, test, and validate operating system and application updates and patches including operating system vulnerability patches
• Configure and manage RHEL operating systems; troubleshoot and maintain system integrity along with implementing operating system updates and vulnerability patches to improve reliability and performance
• Provide support to IT system end users to ensure accessibility and availability for continuous operations
• Utilize monitoring and alerting services to identify issues, enable troubleshooting, and ensure successful resolution
• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
• Coordinate with customers, create and respond to trouble tickets, and document issues and solutions in issue tracking system
• Knowledge and understanding of System Administration interdependencies specific to RHEL systems and workstations including Linux frameworks and GNOME desktop
• Knowledge and understanding of remote access and administration of deployed systems
• Knowledge and experience with system security hardening and IAVA/CVE patching for Linux systems and workstations
• Knowledge of Puppet and experience building and modifying puppet modules
• Knowledge of Ansible and experience building and modifying playbooks
• Experience updating, testing, and validating changes to system PXE Boot, Kickstart, and YUM repo based on updates and patches
• Experience using health and status monitoring software; Nagios preferred
• Familiarity with RHEL subscription manager
• Knowledge of PKI infrastructure
• Self-motivated, organized, possess excellent written and verbal skills with ability to work independently
• Able to support and respond to project needs with accuracy and efficiency
• Ability to clearly communicate ideas and status updates to peers and management
• Ability to work well with a small team on a fast-paced development project
