Ever-expanding technology like IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence means that there’s more structured and unstructured data available today than ever before. As a Kafka engineer, you know that organizing data can yield pivotal insights when it’s gathered from disparate sources. We need an experienced Kafka engineer like you to help our clients find answers in their data to impact important missions—from fraud detection to cancer research to national intelligence.

As a Kafka engineer at EverWatch, you’ll help build advanced technology solutions and implement Kafka engineering activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the industry. You’ll deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.  

Here, you’ll work with and guide a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment. You’ll use your experience in analytical exploration and data examination while you manage the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms for your clients.

You Have: 

• 8+ years of experience with Kafka or Confluent or Kubernetes operators 
• Experience creating data partitioning strategies and monitoring topics for performance 
• Experience deploying and upgrading Kafka clusters in high availability containerized environments 
• Experience utilizing observability platforms, including Elastic and Datadog to configure monitoring for data pipelines to ensure high availability and throughput, low latency, and alerting 
• Knowledge of stream processing pipelines and analytics 
• Secret Clearance 
• Bachelor's degree 

Nice to Have: 

• Experience with Apache NiFi, multi-cluster or containerized environment experience 
• Experience with scripting in Bash or Python 
• Experience deploying and maintaining applications, appliances or machines aligned to DoD or Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG) 
• Experience writing playbooks and scripts for automation tools including Terraform, Ansible or Puppet for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) 
• Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, including threats, vulnerabilities, security operations, encryption, boundary defense, auditing, authentication and supply chain risk management 
• DoD8570 IAT II Compliance Certification, such as Security+, CCNA Security, GSEC

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,143.26 /year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,143.26 /year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Dependent on the position offered, sign-on payments, relocation, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of full paid medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
